Designs for the Garage Door

When you think of good designs for your garage door, having a good design for the door would be one of the choices. An art design for the garage door would seem indispensable because, the door is what an outsider gets to see, and that should look good and suit the overall decor of your home. There are a number of garage door designs available today in the market, and you could choose from one of them. You would get designed doors in several price ranges, and you can choose something that you can afford and that suits the garage design you have in mind.

Further, if you want to make it a truly custom-made garage, you would have to choose your own design for the door also, and get it done. This would further depend on whether you have enough money set aside for it or not. If you plan to get a custom door design for your garage, you could choose a traditional design or a very contemporary one.

Garage Door Materials

After you have decided on the design for your garage door, the next consideration would be on the material to be chosen to construct it. You could build your garage door in wood or metal. This type of shed foundation can be quicker, and easier to build than any other type of foundation, and when constructed right it is extremely strong and durable. I have constructed many of these foundations and have perfected a method that works very well for small & medium size sheds. The largest size of shed that I recommend this type of shed foundation for is a 16ft. x 20ft. shed. This system can work with bigger buildings, but I personally do not use this method for larger sheds.

The shed foundation is easily set up using what I describe as a nine pier system for larger sheds, and a six pier system for sheds that are 8ft. or less in depth. The pier system is composed of three rows of  three (4” x 8” x 16”) solid brick caps that are stacked and used to level and support the 4” x 4” wood skids which will support the floor system. The system works well when piers are placed less than 8ft. apart as detailed in the diagram below.

The floor system for our shed foundation should be constructed of 2′’ x 6” treated lumber spaced 16” on center and surrounded by a double 2” x 6” rim joist. I know to a inexperienced builder this may seem complicated but I will take a few minutes to go over it in more details with you. The following illustrations below will serve as a diagram to help you become familiar with the construction terms used in this article.

You don’t have to be an architect to draw a garage floor plan anyone can do it if they follow a few simple tips. I will give you a brief overview and some simple illustrations to get this task quickly accomplished. The easiest way to draw a floor plan is to use a sheet of graph paper. Graph paper comes with lines that can make it easy to get your ideas laid out.

The Idea is to think of each quarter inch square on the paper as being equal to a one square foot in real life. The squares help you to make scaled representations of real objects. For example: if your car was seven feet wide, by fifteen feet long you could use the squares to draw lines around an area that was seven squares by fifteen squares then just simply label it “Car” you now have a scaled representation of your car. You can use the squares as a gauge to judge spacing so you can make scaled garage layout of everything in your floor plan and their locations. If you use this process to place scaled representations of each object in your building you will be able to have a really good idea of just how much space you require.
